Blogging is absolutely huge right now and it is not going away any time soon. But most people don’t really know how to make money from their blog. If you are blogging so you can make some extra income there are some simple ways you can turn your traffic into cash and really earn some extra income from a part time hobby.
So what are the best ways to make money blogging?
If you already have a blog or have not started your money making blog yet, here are some things you will want to consider implementing into your website. There are hundreds of ways to monetize your blog, but I have found these methods to be the absolute best.
- Text links. You will notice on this blog that I use Infolinks. All I have to do is add a short code to my site and it automatically searches my site for the content and converts keywords into links. Every time someone clicks on one of these links I earn some extra money. There are many other companies that will pay you to do this. These websites include Kontera, Vibrant, and others, but some will require a certain amount of traffic before they will approve you. I have found that infolinks pays very well and has the best return. It’s also very easy to use. Check out Infolinks.
- Adsense. Google will let you put some code on your site which will allow you to make money every time someone clicks on those ads as well. Of course, Adsense is not the only place to earn money through contextual advertising, but it is the biggest and most common one of them all. With steady streams of traffic to your blog you can make $1,000 plus a month just from this one resource. This takes time and building traffic to your blog, but it is very doable. With wordpress there are all kinds of Adsense plugins to use as well. They are free and very easy to use.
- Affiliate programs. This can be one of the most lucrative of the ways to make money with your blog. You simply refer someone to a website an if they make a purchase you get paid a commission. One of the most common places is Clickbank.com, but my absolute favorite place to find companies who will pay me for promoting them is at ShareaSale. They have very good quality programs and will pay you per sale AND per lead which is a veryeasy way to make money.
- Capture Leads with Autoresponder. If you have a website and you are not using an autoresponder you are shooting yourself in the foot. You can capture the email adress of the person visiting your site who wants more info, and you can send them regular updates with helpful information. In these emails you can include affiliate links and make money with every broadcast. I have found the best autoresponder program to be Aweber.
The list could go on and on but if you want some really helpful information to make money with your blog you should check out Blogging to the Bank here. It is a very detailed ebook showing you step by step how to make a full time living from your blog.

Hi, This is my first comment on your site. There is some good information in this post. I have not heard of infolinks before but I will be looking into it from now on. I just have google ads on my site at the moment. Do you think you could use infolinks aswell or is that too many ad links on my page. I mean I don’t want my readers thinking my website is just a huge advertising one.

I have a blog that gets about 300 hits a day. I set Adsense up on it but have only got about $10 so in the past couple of months which is a shame.
Got any tips for putting Adsense on blogs that people click?
Thanks
I personally have a full time job and so am in no desperate hurry to get money. I therefore agree with what Daniel Scocco says and go along with creating a couple of authority sites (I’m going for two because it make the ups and downs of SERP changes a little more bearable). I think long term this is best, especially if you can afford to reinvest earnings to pay for quality content writers to accelerate the growth of your site.
Well the placement of the adsense ads makes a big difference, but another big factor is the type of blog. A blog about how to make money online will not attract adsense clickers as they are more aware of the ads. I find that my product blogs do very well with adsense. I am not getting as much as I want yet, but I am seeing a steady increase in revenue.
Hi
One of the best converting locations for an Adsense block is directly underneath the header. A large square/rectangle format works well here. The downside is that it can discourage readers and push up your bounce rate.

I have tried some of these techniques on various blogs. I’ve had most success with affiliate programs.
My advice is to write a blog about a very particular niche, then put banners or links on it for an affiliate program that has a high payout per sale.
Of course, fewer will convert, but eventually one will, and you’ll get a nice big payment. That’s good for your confidence!
Programs with much smaller payments take ages before you make the threshold and get paid. That can get very disheartening.
Hi! I was really glad to find this blog. I am passionate about writing, have been blogging for awhile and am getting ready to try it for pay. As much as I have read about blogging for pay lately, I still found some really valuable information here. THANKS! I do have a question, though. I have been seeing some posts lately about Firefox adblocker that some people have started using. Is there any worry that this could soon hurt the ‘blogging for money’ industry?
Very informative post. Thanks for sharing!
I found your blog through google. great read, and very informative. Thank you
