I just got another email from a reputable internet marketer trying to promote a backlink indexing service. And I see these services all the time. Keep in mind that this was from a marketer that I respect and trust, so many good people disagree on this topic.
So what’s the answer? Should you use some sort of indexing service to automate getting your backlinks indexed?
No.
And here is why I don’t believe you should. Google is faster at indexing than ever. Just try to get those same links indexed in Bing or Yahoo and chances are you will lose interest before you see your links showing up.
Think about it like this? Why do some links take forever to get indexed and some pop up right away? It’s because the backlinks that NEED to be indexed are the ones that are fairly worthless.
When Google trusts a website and it is getting regular content added on a regular basis it will also crawl it more often. Sites that are just collecting dust online may get new pages now and then, but Google will rarely crawl them unless you start building tons of backlinks to your backlink.
Ok, let’s break it down. I would rather spend my time building backlinks that do not NEED to be indexed by some sort of automated service. They are going to be indexed in a matter of hours or even minutes and I can move on to something else.
If the type of backlinks you are building to your site are the type that have to be indexed in order for them to count towards your site, then you are probably getting pretty low grade backlinks, am I right? (rhetorical question. Of course I am=)
The old way of doing things was to get your backlinks on as many high PR sites as you could with profile links, blog comments, and forum posts. Then you would blast your links with all kinds of cheap web 2.0 links so that you are forcing Google to notice them. Has this worked? Yes it has. But the bigger question is will it work in the future of SEO? And I don’t think it will.
With the search engines on a rampage to sniff out and destroy spam in all of its forms, these auotmated services to backlink your backlinks are eventually going to run out of steam, and then where does all of your hard work and money go?
Wouldn’t you rather focus on quality backlinks? Backlinks that are going to last for years to come and that people will actually click on to find your site. And more importantly, backlinks that do not need to be indexed by a program or service.
I have found that the best way to do this is with guest blog posting. I know I harp on this a lot, but I have seen so much success with it that I love to talk about it. By writing quality posts for other blogs in your niche you can build credibility and also build relationships with other site owners that can result in more traffic down the road.
You can get really great traffic to your site by guest blog posting but you have to know how to do it right.
There is a great video course on guest blogging put together by Erica Douglas, and she explains how she exploded her traffic by writing guest posts for other blogs.
You can check out her Guest Post Secrets video course and ebook here.
