I just saw this story on yahoo and just had to share it with my readers, in case you missed it.  You can check it out here.   And yes, that number is correct.  This guy named Steve Demeter was just your average Joe who had a nack for developing simple video games.  Well we all know how popular all of those Ipod games are and he targeted the fire out of that niche.

Steve and his small low-budget studio at Demiforce began making a game for the Ipod called Trism.  It is a color-matching, block-sliding kind of game.  You know, the kind you spend hours of wasted time on when you want to forget about all the work that is piling up.  yeah, that one.

Anyway, after only 2 months of having this game on the Apples Apps store this game was downloaded over 50,000 times for 5 bucks a pop, raking in about $250,000 dollars.  Not bad in two months.

Even with a shoe-string budget you can find ways to make money online.  And I am using this story to illustrate how simply by going after your passion in a specific area you can make more than enough money to live on.

Now not all of us are game developers.  Some of us are writers, are good at html, are handy with graphic design, just come up with great creative concepts.  If you have a passion for something, I guarantee you can make money with it, because chances are, there is someone else out there with the same passions and they will visit your website or blog religiously.

Steve saw a market (games for the Iphone), and he went after it.  With over 1,500 games on the Apple Apps store it might have seemed like there was too much competition, but here is the thing about competition.  There can only be competition if there is a lot of interest and demand in that area.  And not only that, but competition can motivate to build a better business and rise to the top.

Steve no longer works “for the man” and he spends all his time working on his passions now.

Oh, and by the way, Steve has a sequel coming out soon as well, so stay tuned for that.
