What?! You’re NOT Using Squidoo?
-
These were the words I exclaimed to my friend who had never even HEARD of Squidoo. Of course I quickly
told him all the benefits of Squidoo and how it’s absolutely caraazy NOT to be using this Social Media service.Maybe you’re like my friend here and you are not using Squidoo to make money either. Well, not to fear! The Cash Coach is in the house=)
Before I tell you the benefits of Squidoo, let me just inform those who are out there saying, “What in the world is Squidoo?”
Squidoo is a powerful web 2.0 tool that is free (love that word) and allows users to build one page websites talking about absolutely anything they are interested in. These one pages websites are called “lenses” on Squidoo because you are taking a closer look at something. Hence, the name Squidoo, “cause those Squid got some big ole eyes!”
Seth Godin is the creator of Squidoo and is one of the most successful marketers in the world and has written many best selling books like “Purple Cow, Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable” and “All Marketers Are Liars.” Oh, and check out his new great book called “Tribes, We Need You to Lead Us“!
So What makes Squidoo.com an Affiliate Marketers Dream Come True?
1. Google and Squidoo are going steady!
It’s all about exposure in the marketing business. And if people can’t find you, you simply won’t make any money. But Google simply loves Squidoo and Squidoo lenses tend to rank even higher than Ezine Articles when they are optimized properly. Since it’s a PR 8 you can have some great results with your niche. On some of my websites, 40% of my traffic comes from Squidoo and it is quality traffic too. So as long as Google and Squidoo are hitting it off, I’m going to keep building those lenses.
(oh and by the way, I get a ton of hits through Yahoo too)
2. Allows Do-Follow Affiliate Links
A do follow link is one that passes on some “rank juice”. Which basically means that if it’s a good quality website (like Squidoo) and you are linking to another site you are able to give that site a boost.
It’s great for affiliate marketing because you are allowed to use affiliate links too! Unlike Ezinearticles which only allows links to sites you own. Often I will use Squidoo to test a certain market to see if it is a good money maker, and I will usually make a few sales along the way too.
With certain niches I have ONLY used my lenses on Squidoo.com and I have raked in a lovely sum of cash because the visitors just pour in, mostly from Google but many from interlinking of Squidoo pages themselves as well.
3. Easy to Monetize your Squidoo Page and Make More Money
Squidoo Widgets. There are all kind of widgets you can use too. With widgets using Amazon and Ebay you can sell things from your page without even being an affiliate of either company. Squidoo will pay you 50% of any sales generates through these widgets, and there are more too, like from Cafe Express, Zazzle, Netflix, Orbitz and more.
Adsense. It really is a beautiful thing. They will pay you 50% of all revenue generated with your lenses from Adsense as well. So every time someone clicks on one of the Google ads on your page, you will get some moola. If you build enough lenses this can be a huge money maker for you.
4. Easy to Track Stats
For every lens you build comes with it the power to know exactly where you traffic coming from and what they are clicking on. It’s like having Google Analytics right on your lens. Here is a screen shot I have made for you to check it out. These stats are from the last 7 days with ONE lens with one of my lenses about Jordan Shoes (the best shoes on the planet). As you can see.. Google brings me the most traffic.
There are also stats that will tell you exactly what links people are clicking on to, which is extremely useful information in marketing your products properly.
5. You Can Build As Many Lenses as You Can Imagine
Hey it’s a free service so why not! Build tons of lenses. If you really want to make money with this using article marketing techniques, I would recommend making 5 lenses a week, which is very doable once you figure out the Squidoo system. Just provide informative and useful content that people will want to read and comment on. The more comments you get on your page the better too, so start a controversial topic and see the comments pour in.
6. Lens Ranking System Motivates Users
Each lens has a rank. The closer to #1 the better the rank. If you lens ever gets in the top 100 your traffic
will absolutely explode, and you will rake in some serious affiliate sales. But the algorythm Squidoo uses is still a mystery (even if people tell you they figured it out). The key to building your rank is to build backlinks to your lens, interlink your lenses, drive lots of traffic to it and add a few modules now and then to keep it fresh.7. Get Your Website or Blog More Exposure
Like I said, it’s a free service, and any extra exposure you can get to yuor website is helpful right? Some people never would have found me were it not for a Squidoo lens. These days in the explosion of web 2.0 social networking and social media services it is as important as ever to use every tool at your disposal. Because if you are NOT using those tools, your competitors probably are. Get some more eyes on your site using Squidoo today.
