The more I learn about the net, the more I realize it's got a lot to do with persistence and patience. You have to do a lot of trial and error work just to find out what works. Then you have to do all that work applying what you have learned! And of course everything is changing (eg, the boom in social media) so you have to keep up with that as well. You just have to accept that you won't make much money for quite a while. That's why it's very important to build sites that are about things you're passionate about. If you can structure your site before you begin it will save you from a lot of headaches. Once you build this site you can monetize it with all kinds of advertising and you don't have to sell a thing. You just have to help people. As much as the though of making money of it is very tempting isn't there ways to make money on blogs and wordpress sites through advertising etc.? Truth be told I'm not sure what to do with my first attempt at building an authority site is simply a mess, but it does bring in a few hundred a month and I guess it will increase with age so I'm not complaining.
