If you are currently an affiliate marketer and you are NOT using email marketing in your campaigns, then you really need to read this post.

An autoresponder can double your sales very easily.

The problem that most affiliat marketers have is that they set up a nice landing page, drive a ton of traffic to it, only to see about 1% or 2% conversion rate, and those 99% of targeted consumers may never come back to their site again.  It’s like carrying water in a bucket, but having so many holes in it that by the time you get to the garden most of the water is gone.

Well email marketing is a way you can catch some of that spilling water and make something grow by using it. See, I knew my metaphor would make sense somehow=).

The super affiliates that are making $10,000 a week and more are ALL using autoresponders like Aweber, and here is why.

5 reasons you MUST have an email marketing campaign

    1.  You are losing sales without one.

As mentioned above, the majority of the people that come to your website, blog, or landing page will never come back.  After doing all the work to get them there, be it article writing or using PPC with adowrds, they are gone forever.  With all the time you spend getting traffic you want to make the most out of it.  With an autoresponder you simply set up a form where they can fill in their name and email adress and in return you can either give them a free e-book (you can find thousands of them online to offer) or you can have them subscribe to a weekly newsletter.  Yes, you are giving them something free, but in return you are not empty handed.  Now you have an email address that you can send informative updates to and hopefully get a sale out of down the road.

    2.  Email marketing will give you higher conversions than most other forms of advertising.

The reason for this is that you are sending the person free information on a regular basis and they get it conveniently in their inbox.   AND, they are building a trust in you and hopefully are looking forward to your insightful emails.  Now, make sure your emails to them are not spammy or all hyped up, because that will just drive sales away.  But over time you can build a relationship with your subscribers and they will trust your guidance on new products to try.  Just don’t break that trust by offering some useless product to them.  Many marketers are able to send out an email broadcast to their subscribers and rake in $10,000 every time they do it.  Yes they have big email lists, but they also offer valuable information and have high conversion rates.

By the way, Wealthy Affiliate claims that their landing page has a conversion rate of 80%, that is 80% of the people that come to their landing page sign up for the email newsletter.  Not too shabby.

    3.  It’s VERY cheap to use an autoresponder like Aweber.

$20 bucks a month.  That’s it.  That means you only need to make $21 per month for Aweber to be profitable for you.  Now if done right, you will make 100 times that amount, but I am showing you how necessary and affordable email marketing can be.  If you are reading this you probably already have a website or blog.  So all you need is a simple form on there (aweber makes it very easy to set one of these up.) and you can start capturing some of those leads that pass by.  This is much more useful than even an RSS feed, and yet many bloggers only use RSS and forget about an email marketing campaign which could make them thousands.

    4.  They see the long term plan.

When I first started in affiliate marketing I didn’t think it was necessary to have an autoresponder.  But I was just thinking of my short term goals.  To have a long term plan of making money online you need to have an autoresponder in place that will allow you to have those long term relationships with people that are starving for information.

    5.  Autoresponders are..well.. automatic.

It may take a few days to get aweber all set up how you want it, but they provide a ton of videos and tutorials to make it easy and painless.  The great part about it is that once it’s all set up you can just walk away and let it do it’s thing.  Having a service that will even send an RSS fed email to a subscriber on it’s own every week or whatever time you set it for gives you more time to work on some other aspect of your campaign.  Using Aweber is like outsourcing your email marketing projects to them, and it’s only $20 per month.  I have not stopped using them since I signed up.  Because I am seeing how profitable it can be.

You don’t want to put your eggs all in one basket.  Email marketing is just another way you can promote your affiliate products or services.  It’s a big one, but not the only one.  Why just use one marketing technique when you can use as many as you can handle and reap the rewards!

  1. Email marketing is the best. I ran my website without it for 3 years. After redesigning the site to collect my users email address my profits are way higher. I have collected over 30,000 members in the last year. I can email them every time a new related offer comes in and get 1000 leads in a day.

I have also noticed that since I made my members create an account before accessing my database, my affiliate links actually convert better.

  2. wow, 30,000 email members.. that’s quite an accomplishment. Congrats. Email marketing just plain works, as much as people stay away from it for fear of looking like a spammer. It’s all in the approach you take in it though.
